CodiceFiscale.expert is a free, independent online tool that helps Italian citizens and foreigners calculate, verify and decode the Italian tax code (Codice Fiscale) in seconds, directly in the browser.
Our mission
The Codice Fiscale is essential to live, work, study or open a bank account in Italy. For people not born in Italy, understanding how it is structured and calculated can be confusing. Our mission is to make this tool simple, clear and available in 8 languages.
We provide, free of charge, tax code calculation, formal validity checking, decoding of the personal data contained in the code, and generation of a health-card (Tessera Sanitaria) facsimile.
How the tool works
All calculations follow the algorithm defined by the Italian Revenue Agency (Agenzia delle Entrate): surname and first-name codes, year, month and day of birth, the cadastral code of the municipality (or foreign country) and the check character (CIN).
The calculation happens entirely in your browser: the data you enter is never stored or sent to our servers.
Transparency and independence
CodiceFiscale.expert is an independent project and is not affiliated with, connected to, or authorised by the Agenzia delle Entrate or any public body. The generated tax code is algorithmically correct, but for official issuance you must always contact the Agenzia delle Entrate.
